Irene Angelakis, is a dedicated and experienced matrimonial and family law attorney.

 

Ms. Angelakis attended Hofstra University School of Law and earned her Juris Doctor in 2007.

During the earlier years of her legal career, Ms. Angelakis worked in both the private and public sector.  From 2009-2014, she represented over three hundred children in custody, visitation, paternity, neglect, termination of parental rights and family offense proceedings as Staff Attorney and then Senior Attorney with the Children’s Law Center.  She returned to the private sector in June 2014 as an associate with Schwartz & Ciesinski, LLP. In October 2015, she founded her private law firm, Law Offices of Irene Angelakis, P.C., located in Garden City, New York. 


Several academic institutions have repeatedly invited Ms. Angelakis as a guest speaker including St. John’s University School of Law, Brooklyn Law School Clinic, CUNY Law, Long Island University and BramsonOrt. She has also presented continuing legal education courses to colleagues such as “Ethical Considerations in Family Law Cases,” “Traumatic Exposure,” and “The Role of the Attorney for the Child.”
 

From 2009-2014, Ms. Angelakis was an active member of several court-based committees including the Family Court Domestic Violence Working Group, Child Protective Working Group, and the Disproportionate Minority Representation Working Group.

 

Currently, Ms. Angelakis serves as an Arbitrator for the Nassau County Fee Dispute Resolution Program as well as a Pro Bono Attorney for the Safe Center representing victims of domestic violence in matrimonial actions. She is a member of the Nassau Bar Association, Hellenic Lawyers Association, Nassau County Women's Bar Association and New York State Bar Association, Family Law Section.

 

Ms. Angelakis is the President of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association for the 2019-2020 term.  Her past service to the Association includes five terms as an officer as well as chair of several NCWBA committees including: the Solo-Practitioner/Small Firm Committee, Matrimonial/Family Law Committee and Installation Committees.  She also served on WBASNY’s Domestic Violence Committee.

 

Ms. Angelakis was selected to the New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.  She was named "Top 40 Under 40" in 2017, 2018 and 2019 by the National Advocates.  In 2015, she was named "Who's Who of Distinguished Alumni" by the Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni.  

 

Ms. Angelakis is a first generation Greek American who tales pride in serving the Greek community.  In 2017 she served as President of the Syllogos Kreton Minos of New York, a Greek Cultural Society.
