Maria Schwartz is a divorce and family law attorney with over twenty years of experience in successfully representing men and women through complex and contentious divorces. She built her strong reputation as a skilled and respected litigator by electing to “hang a shingle” right after graduation from law school and singlehandedly going into the trenches of divorce.  Best known for her direct and no-nonsense approach to divorce, she is particularly suited for clients who understand that time is money and appreciate strategic planning and goal driven results.

 

Ms. Schwartz has practiced in nearly every courthouse in the metropolitan area, successfully handling and dealing with all aspects and complexities of divorce.  She is an accomplished trial lawyer and successfully prosecuted and defended appeals. Intricate knowledge of divorce and family law coupled with handling hundreds of cases is the key to her successful and effective advocacy for her clients.

 

In addition, like her clients, she too has been divorced and therefore has a unique understanding and view of divorce.  Her approach is to empower clients and help them understand and focus on the important issues in their cases. She is hands on at every stage in a matter, from the initial client meeting to negotiation of a settlement agreement or trial.

Ms. Schwartz attended Hofstra University School of Law and earned her Juris Doctorate degree in 1995.  She subsequently taught there as a Special Professor of Law for nine (9) years teaching negotiation skills.

 

A recognized member of the legal community, Ms. Schwartz has lectured on various matrimonial topics at local and State levels, including trial techniques demonstrations.
